There's Something About Hippo

Dylan's sleeping, so this entry may come to an abrupt stop. You never know.

Way back when I was pregnant - which in all reality was only 2 months ago but feels like forever - I needed maternity clothes to fit my fat pregnant self. There is a wonderful little store called Motherhood Maternity that sells reasonably affordable maternity clothes. So I went to the mall and walked my fat pregnant self to Motherhood Maternity to buy some clothes. I had a gift card and when all was said and done, I still had a few extra dollars left on it. I didn't need more clothes at that point, and there were the cutest little stuffed animals sitting on one of the racks, so I bought two of them - a duck (yellow) and a hippo (green).

Fast forward to now. Or rather, a week or so ago.

Dylan was just starting to be able to really see and focus on things. He started smiling and laughing. Every so often he would smile at Mommy. Every so often he would smile at Daddy. And more times than not, he was smiling and laughing at Hippo, who lives on the rail of his crib. (Mommy may have been jealous of a stuffed animal at one point until she realized how uber pathetic that was).

Nothing makes Dylan happier now than lying in his crib, watching his mobile spin around and play Lullaby, laughing, smiling, and kicking and squealing at Hippo. Seriously, if you pick him up when he's doing this, he'll scream. And earlier this evening he was screaming like there was no tomorrow and we put him down in the crib to swaddle him and he instantly calmed down and started laughing and kicking. I can't say I understand, but it's cute.
